To give an example how rare they are, after about 400 hours of playing Warframe, I got roughly 30 catalysts and 20 reactors., however 1/3 of these were from a series of events that gave a lot of them, rest were random Alert Missions Sorties are added, reactors/catalysts are marked as rare because most players were able to get every frame a reactor potato by now just by doing the alerts/events/invasions regularly.
